Geotechnical Engineering Services

Geotechnical Engineering Services are essential for the stability, safety, and long-term success of a project. Our approach focuses on analyzing the subsurface conditions at a project site enabling our engineers to develop site-specific design recommendations while taking into consideration local construction best practices. We aim to inform and advise our client and the design team at every stage of a project, by serving as the Geotechnical Consultant from initial feasibility through construction completion.

At Lone Star we believe that a successful geotechnical study begins by understanding the scope of the project and the existing site conditions. With this information, we develop a site-specific field and laboratory testing program that allows our engineers to effectively evaluate the project. Our experienced geotechnical field staff perform vital analysis during the field exploration stage by closely monitoring the site conditions and samples obtained at the project site and ensuring accurate collection of data.

Our in-house laboratory is fully equipped to perform a wide array of geotechnical test procedures. Lone Star’s highly trained ACI and NICET certified laboratory personnel perform laboratory testing in accordance with the latest ASTM and TxDOT procedures.

These capabilities, combined with our local knowledge, extensive expertise, and integration with the design team, enable Lone Star to produce a geotechnical report that offers quality recommendations and innovative solutions.

Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspections are crucial to every project to ensure safety, quality, and a high level of performance standards. At Lone Star, this emphasis on superior work quality is one of the founding principles our CMT professional and technical staff stand on.

Lone Star conducts all its inspection and testing services under the guidance and direction of registered Professional Engineers and highly certified staff headquartered in San Antonio. Our quality CMT program assists in preventing the use of inadequate or incompatible materials, early identification and remediation of potential defects, and mitigation of the risks associated with costly failures. It ultimately protects the investment and safety of the project stakeholders and the public.

Our field and laboratory technicians are ACI, NICET, and TxDOT certified personnel and follow the requirements established in the Civil and Structural Plans and Project Specifications. Lone Star’s laboratory is fully equipped to perform concrete, soil, aggregate, and asphalt tests. Our concrete curing system is designed to comply with ASTM Specifications and allows for temperature and moisture control processes in the curing environment. Lone Star’s field staff are also certified International Code Council (ICC) Special Inspectors registered with the City of San Antonio.

We understand the importance of having timely recommendations provided to the client, contractor, architect, civil, and structural engineers during the construction stage. Lone Star’s local engineering staff are committed to having direct involvement in all projects and personally addressing issues or concerns that arise during the construction stage. This direct involvement reduces potential downtime and increases Lone Star’s efficiency in addressing issues as they are identified. Lone Star utilizes a web-based reporting system in both the field and laboratory, reducing reporting timelines and allowing for both emailed reports and digital access through our online portal.
